Bobby Carl Stephens was born on May 21, 1942, in Tom, Oklahoma, to parents Johnny Stephens and Lois (Farrar) Stephens. Bobby loved playing basketball in high school. But as an adult, Bobby’s passion was the oil field. He worked as a rig operator and tool pusher in west Texas and as an international consultant. He also loved both ranching and his cows. He and his wife, Pat, enjoyed team penning competitions. Holidays, surrounded by his family, were some of his favorite times. Because of his love for sage, you had to carefully guard the dressing at Thanksgiving, or it would be greener than the green beans! Bobby was a founding member of the Cowboy Church Gatherin’, located eight miles south of Graham.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Lois; his brothers, Clif Stephens and Lloyd Stephens; along with his in-laws, Mary and Ted White.

His survivors include his wife of 33 years, Pat Stephens; sister, Joyce Wright of Breckenridge; daughter, Robin Wright and husband Steve of Longview; sons, Kevin Stephens and wife Lisa of Longview, Michael Stephens of Dallas, Jason Atchison and wife Emily of Eliasville, and Roy Dan Atchison and wife Shaton of Eliasville; grandchildren, Lauren Burghart and husband Brian of Hallsville (along with their children Molly, Beau, and Reed), Cole Stephens of Denton, Katelyn Atchison and fiancé Tony Mendez and daughter Adelina of Breckenridge.

Memorial donations in Bobby’s name can be made to the Cowboy Church Gatherin’ and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com.
