Eddy Hamilton, 73, of Breckenridge, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. His funeral service at Gunsight Baptist Church will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022, with Rex Boggs officiating. His interment at the Murray Cemetery in Young County will immediately follow the service. The family will welcome friends for a visitation in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022.

Eddy Russell Hamilton was born on July 22, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was raised in Murray, Texas, by his paternal grandparents, J.T. and Minnie Hamilton. He started school in Woodson but then attended elementary school in Graham, Texas, and graduated from Graham High School. He was an active member of the band and played trombone.

Growing up, he was very close to his Hamilton first cousins. They spent many summers in Murray and Crane and spent one family fun trip traveling to Oregon. They had the time of their lives, and he loved spending time with his cousin, Spencer Hamilton, who was better known to him as a brother!

He met the love of his life, Cecelia Diane Farmer, in late summer of 1968. They were married on November 16, 1968, in Graham.

Eddy was an avid sportsman as he loved any and all water sports; he was also an avid barefoot skier and hunter. He enjoyed many trips to Colorado with his friends and his son. He loved coon hunting and had a special connection with his hunting dog, Chopper.

Eddy was so proud of both of his children, James Ray (Jamie) and Jennifer Raschel. Eddy and Diane raised their children in Breckenridge. He raised his kids on the lake as well as out in the field hunting, and he taught them a strong love of their family history and the land.

He is survived by his son, James Ray Hamilton and wife Ronnie Gail Hamilton of Midlothian, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Raschel Love of Possum Kingdom Lake; sisters, Mariann Montgomery and husband Andy of Richardson, Texas, and Minnie Tom Meyer and husband Leslie of Arlington, Virginia; and grandchildren, Taylor Raye Ludwig and husband Mark of Weatherford, Texas, Sidney Paige Love of Lubbock, Texas, Cason Russell Love of College Station, Texas, and Barrett Thomas Hamilton of Midlothian.

Memorial donations in Eddy’s name can be made to the Murray Cemetery Association and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com
