Melvin Green, Sr., age 82, of Breckenridge, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2nd, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Mark Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow in the Vera Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Morehart Mortuary.

Melvin Richard Green was born April 4, 1939, in Graham, Texas, to George Green and Frances Parker Green. After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the National Guard and a few years later joined the United States Army. He served in Berlin, Germany, until his honorable discharge in 1960. The following year, Melvin was recalled into the Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1962. On January 23, 1961, Melvin married Patricia Gale Beach Green in Seymour. He worked as a truck driver for several years, as well as a carpenter, ranch hand and welder. Melvin was a member of the Church of Breckenridge. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Terry Allen Green and George R. “Russ” Green; two great-grandchildren; and his grandparents.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Green of Breckenridge; three children, Melvin R. “Richie” Green, Jr. of San Antonio, Angela R. “Renea” Warden of Giddings, and James R. “Ronnie” Green of Breckenridge; one brother, David Green of Vega; one sister, Linda Robinson of Wolfforth; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
