Winter storm leads to cancellations, delays for local businesses, organizations, agencies

The approaching winter storm is creating some local cancellations, delays and schedule changes. This story will be updated as news comes in.

  • Breckenridge ISD officials announced that schools will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 3, and Friday, Feb. 4. Basketball games that had been scheduled for Friday have been tentatively rescheduled for noon Saturday in Henrietta (varsity only).
  • Party Planet will not have afternoon pickup on Wednesday, and classes are canceled for Thursday, Feb. 3. Classes will resume on Monday, Feb. 7.
  • Jury duty for the 90th Judicial District Court, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4, has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 7. Anyone with a jury summons for Feb. 4, needs to appear at the Stephens County Courthouse at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 7.
  • The City of Breckenridge closed its offices at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, and will remain closed on Wednesday, Feb. 3, and Thursday, Feb. 4. If you have an emergency, call 9-1-1. If you have a non-emergency situation, call the Breckenridge Police Department’s non-emergency number, 254-559-2211.
  • The Texas State Technical College campus in Breckenridge, as well as those in Sweetwater and Abilene, closed at noon on Feb. 2 and will remain closed on Feb. 3. All employees will continue to work remotely, and online learning will continue as scheduled.
  • The Bargain Box will be closed Thursday and Friday, Feb. 3-4.
  • Breckenridge Medical Center will be closed Thursday, Feb. 3. The Urgent Care Clinic and the Emergency Room, both at Stephens Memorial Hospital, will be open.
  • The Stephens County Courthouse is closed Feb. 3.
  • Republic Services will not run any trash routes on Thursday, Feb. 3, and will evaluate the roads before determining service for Friday.
  • Junior Buckaroo Academy will be closed Thursday, Feb. 3, and Friday, Feb. 4.
