She was born Shirley Ann Stewart on April 9, 1936, in Breckenridge, to parents Emmett and Flora Stewart. She attended school at Breckenridge High School and later welcomed two sons into the world.

Shirley had a strong work ethic, working into her early 80s. She was very entrepreneurial and worked not only as a hairdresser and waitress but also as a caregiver. She loved both her family and her animals, and she enjoyed painting, gardening, and collecting antiques.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Earl Stewart, Bill Stewart, and Weldon Stewart. She is survived by her sons, Michael Sweet and wife Janet of Weston, and Lewis Don Parrott of Seymour; granddaughters, Summer Blackard and husband Coby, Kylee Borton and husband Austin, and Claire Sweet; along with great-granddaughters, Madalyn and Paisley Blackard.

Shirley trusted in the Lord and accepted Him as her Savior.

A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Villa Haven who have loved her and cared for her the last couple of years.

Memorial donations in Shirley’s name can be made to the Meals on Wheels program in Breckenridge and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences may be made online at meltonkitchens.com.
