Richard Spell, Sr., age 85, of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022. Mr. Spell’s wishes were to be cremated, and no services have been scheduled as of this moment.

Richard Allen Spell was born January 3, 1937, in Cleburne, Texas, to Reuben Spell and Harriett Drennon Spell. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1955 and went on to attend the Arlington State College for several years. While in college, Richard was active in the ROTC Program. Richard later joined the Army Air Force Reserves until his honorable discharge. On June 11, 1960, Richard married Gayle Goolsby in Fort Worth. He worked for Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company for many years, traveling across the state. He eventually made it full circle, back to Breckenridge with Schlitz. Richard loved spending time with his family, especially his wife. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Spell was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Harriett Spell; his wife, Gayle Spell; one daughter, Stacye Spell; one brother, Monte Spell; and one sister, Marsha Clarkson.

Mr. Spell is survived by his son, Rick Spell Jr. and Shannon of Arlington; two grandchildren, Karlie Spell and Katie Spell; one sister-in-law, Nancy Spell; and one nephew, Patrick Spell.
