The Breckenridge Fire Department responded to a structure fire shortly after 10 a.m. this morning, Monday, Jan. 10, on County Road 213, west of the Hubbard Creek Bridge. Smoke from the fire could be seen billowing in sky from several miles away, including from inside the city of Breckenridge.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the home fully engulfed in flames.

Stephens County Fire Marshal Wayne McMullen said they have not determined the cause of the fire yet but that there were no utilities currently connected to the home. However, he said, there may have been somebody living off and on in the house. He said the fire was called in by a neighbor.

The home was completely destroyed by the fire, and there were no reports of injuries at the scene. Deputies from the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, along with emergency crews from AMR ambulance service, also responded to the scene.
