Cheryl Ann Poteet

Cheryl Poteet, 67, of Breckenridge, Texas, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories, with Patrick Frishe officiating. Her interment will follow at Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.
Cheryl was born on December 2, 1954, to JW and Delois Stouard, in Seminole, Texas. She attended nursing school and was an LVN until her retirement. Cheryl met Eddie Poteet at a young age, and together they were blessed with two children, Travis and Lea Ann. After Eddie’s passing in 2002, it was just her and her children until she crossed paths with Douglas Stewart. They shared many years together before his passing in 2018. After Douglas’ passing, Cheryl chose to move in with her son, Travis, who lived in Graham, Texas. It was during this time that she grew even closer to the family that meant so much to her. She loved her morning coffee and the talks she had with her family each day. If she could successfully persuade one of her kids to chauffeur her to the casinos in Oklahoma, they would enjoy their time laughing while they gambled an afternoon away. Even though she may have been perceived as a simple woman, Cheryl knew what was important at the end of the day: her Lord and Savior and her family, both of which she kept close on a daily basis. She was the glue that held this large and loving family together. She will be greatly missed.
Memorial donations in Cheryl’s name can be made to the American Heart Association and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com.
