Elaine Adair, age 88, of Breckenridge, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4, at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church with Father Donald Sackett officiating. A visitation and reception will be held in the Parrish Hall following the service. Interment will be held in the Waresville Cemetery in Utopia, Texas, at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Elaine Kiousis Kallas was born on April 28, 1933, in Lubbock, Texas, to parents, Gust Kallas and Anna Pratas Kallas. She attended school in Lubbock and was a member of the Lubbock High School class of 1951. She then went on to attend Texas Tech and Wayland Baptist University. On February 8, 1953, Elaine married Weaver Ray Adair in Lubbock. The Adairs made their home in Lubbock and later moved to Plainview in 1961. In 1972, the family moved to Quanah for several years and then settled in Breckenridge in 1976. She worked for Pardue Oil from 1985 until her retirement in 1998. Elaine was an active member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church. She was also a past member of the Woman’s Forum, the Woman’s Golf Association, and was on the board for the Breckenridge Library and Breckenridge Day Care Center. She volunteered at the Bargain Box and enjoyed playing Bridge and having movie days with her friends. She was proud of her Greek heritage and traditions, especially her Greek cooking. Above all, Elaine loved spending time with family and was lovingly known by all as YiaYia.

Elaine did it her way to the end, even leaving written instructions to be followed. However, she did this with such purity of heart and love and devotion to her home, her children, her family, her God, her church, friends and community that all returned this love. Her granddaughter-in-law wrote: “YiaYia was the only grandmother I ever had. She was so accepting and taught me how it felt to have a grandmother. I loved her so much.” May our memories of her be eternal.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, John Kallas and his wife Doris; and one granddaughter, Renee Kan.

Elaine is survived by three children, Dee Adair of Quanah, Paige Adair of Albany and Tina Robinson and husband Larry of Breckenridge; one sister, Pam Churchwell of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Matthew Langford and wife Angela, Joshua Adair and wife Keyla, Stacy Mikrut, Dawn Duarte, Jason Kan; seven great-grandchildren, Cameron Kan, Blanton Langford, Kaitlyn Langford, Isabella Adair, Marcus Mikrut, Braxton Duarte, Becket Duarte; and several special nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church or to the donor’s favorite charity and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at www.morehartmortuary.net.
