Odalee Thomas, age 92, of Breckenridge, Texas, died on November 27, 2021, after a brief bout of pneumonia.

Odalee was born on August 19, 1929, to Amasa Shugart and Emma Woodall Shugart in Kokomo, Eastland County, Texas. She married William L. ‘Bill’ Thomas on December 20, 1948, in Lubbock, Texas. They were married for 64 years and had two sons, Stephen and Alan. Odalee was a nurse for many years before leaving the profession to have a family. When the family moved to Breckenridge in 1975, she opened a health food store and operated it in some fashion until 2010. Odalee was an active member of the Elliott St. Church of Christ in Breckenridge, Texas, where she was involved with the World Bible School and Mission Printing. Prior to entering the Villa Haven Nursing home, she was active with the World Bible School correspondence program. She was an avid 42 and card player and loved to walk. Even after entering the nursing home at 90 years old, she would walk up and down the halls many times a day.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. ‘Bill’ Thomas; sons, Stephen and Alan; sisters, Billie Ruth Wilkerson, Flossie Dawkins, Nora Roberson, Maureen Coleman; and brother, A.W. ‘Bud’ Shugart.

Odalee is survived by her grandchildren, Sheri Hemby, Darby Thomas and Jodi Thomas; sisters, Lona Belle English and Dixie Pack.

Per Odalee’s request, there will only be a private graveside service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.
