NewsMatch to double donations to Breckenridge Texan through Dec. 31
The Breckenridge Texan is once again participating in the international fundraising campaign NewsMatch, which will double the amount of donations that we receive through Dec. 31.
This is our fourth year to take part in the project, which supports non-profit newsrooms, including the Breckenridge Texan. All donations — and the matching funds — will go to the Breckenridge Texan and help support our work here to provide quality news to the local community.
There are several ways to make a donation:
- Go the Breckenridge Texan’s page on the NewsMatch site
- Click on the “Donate” button on the Breckenridge Texan’s website
- Mail a check to P.O. Box 1228, Breckenridge, Texas 76424. Please make the check out to the Institute for Nonprofit News, the Breckenridge Texan’s 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor.
“We are excited for the Breckenridge Texan to be a part of NewsMatch again,” said Breckenridge Texan co-founder and publisher Tony Pilkington. “By contributing during the NewsMatch campaign, the community of Breckenridge can double its support for the Breckenridge Texan.”

As a non-profit news site, the Breckenridge Texan depends on donations, in addition to ad sales, to fund our daily operations.
“Without contributions from the community, we wouldn’t be able to continue to provide the Breckenridge community with a comprehensive news source,” Pilkington said. “We do our best to keep Breckenridge and Stephens County as informed as possible about what’s happening, and we depend on our readers to keep us going.
“Each year since we launched the Breckenridge Texan in the Fall of 2017, reader contributions have grown,” he continued. “And we appreciate every dollar that we receive.”
In addition to regular news coverage, the Breckenridge Texan also offers:
- A weekly newsletter that delivers a roundup of recent stories via email every Monday
- Photo galleries from local events
- A Calendar of Events, which lists upcoming community activities
- Local obituaries
- And more
