On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, Jacqulin (Jackie) Cantrell Garrison, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at the age of 88.

Jackie was born on December 1, 1932, in Morgan Mill, Texas, to Lonnie Lee and Edna Esther (Gold) Cantrell. She completed her undergraduate degree at Hardin Simmons University and later her master’s degree at Eastern New Mexico University. On May 23, 1955, she married James (Jim) Oliver Garrison in Bluff Dale, Texas. They raised one daughter, Jamie. She spent thirty-seven and a half years with Clovis Municipal Schools.

As a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Jackie’s unrelenting faith and dedication to the Lord guided her life and her purpose. She enjoyed being active in her community, sponsoring the high school cheerleaders, teaching Sunday school, and volunteering at the hospital as a Pink Lady. One of her favorite things to do was support her granddaughters at all their activities. She was a kind, loving, and spunky woman who never met a stranger.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jackie was preceded in death by her sisters, Eva Jo Pickard and Betty Lee Keller; stepsons, John and Stephen Garrison; and three infant grandsons. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Walker and husband Jody of Breckenridge, Texas; granddaughter, Brooklyn Moore of Lubbock, Texas; granddaughter, Brecka Stanley and husband Duncan of Frisco, Texas; brother, Kenneth Cantrell of Lawton, Oklahoma; sister, Peggy Holder and husband Jack of Tucson, Arizona; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thank you to her caregivers, Margie Salas and Maria Ornelas. Your love and attention to Jackie over the years have been a blessing to our family.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021, in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories, and her graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the Morgan Mill Cemetery in Morgan Mill, Texas.

Memorial donations in Jackie’s name can be made to Meals on Wheels in Breckenridge or to the Alzheimer’s Association and can be left at the Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home office. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com.
