Stephens County to honor veterans with Memorial Day ceremony

Local residents are invited to join members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7767 and Auxiliary on Memorial Day to pay their respects to those Stephens County veterans who died in the past year.

The annual ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in front of the Stephens County Courthouse is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 31, on the courthouse lawn, 200 W. Walker St. in Breckenridge.

Each year, the names of the local veterans who died in the past year are added to the monument. This year, the names of 43 veterans who died in 2020 and one who died in 2015 have been added.
