Breckenridge High School athletics wrapped up the 2020-2021 season with a state track meet win and a berth in the baseball playoffs.

Kylee Willis brought home a third place medal in the high jump at the UIL State Track Meet in Austin on Thursday, May 6, and Sean Cooksey came in at sixth place in the Boys 100-meter dash.

Then, the Buckaroos baseball team took on the Early Longhorns in a three-game series that started Friday night in Breckenridge’s Owen D. Woodward Stadium/Dee Escalon Field. The Buckaroos won Game 1 of the Region I-3C bi-district playoff, 15-5.

Game 2 was played in Early, and the Longhorns came out on top with a score of 3-13, forcing the series into its third and final game. In Game 3, also in Early, the two teams were tied at 5-5 from the sixth inning through the 11th inning, when Early scored two more points. With no more scores by the Buckaroos, the Longhorns won the series and advanced to the Area playoff against Ballinger Bearcats.
