Al Maag, 74, of Breckenridge, passed away at his residence surrounded by family on Monday, February 15, 2021. A memorial service celebrating his life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021, at Necessity Baptist Church. His cremation has been entrusted to Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

Alva Paschal “Al” Maag was born on February 24, 1946. He was the firstborn child to parents Jimmy Jeff Maag and Rudell Goslier Maag. Al was a man of many interests and talents. He grew up and attended school in Burkburnett where he played football and found an interest in rodeo. His specific interest was tie-down roping and steer wrestling.

Al was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. After his discharge from the military, he began his business of framing new homes and buildings. He then transitioned into constructing new homes, and he was awarded the Outstanding Home Builder in Wichita Falls in 1984.

He loved rodeo and bass fishing and excelled at both winning many buckles, saddles, and even a trailer! He loved to compete and was in the top group of fisherman in every club. He was also the president of the Breckenridge Bass Club and brought in many new members and friends.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Rudell.

He is survived by a family who love him dearly: his wife of 31 years, Karen; children, Stacey and husband Norvell Bowers, Holly and husband Randy Reeves, Amanda Maag and fiancé Nick Thornton, and Coby White; grandchildren, Joshua Bowers and wife Deanna, Jonathan Bowers, Logan Bowers, Brooke Reeves, Brent Reeves, Miles Thornton, Jana and husband Brent Caldwell, Marvin “Casper” Phillips and wife Patricia; great-grandchildren, Averie Bowers, Jacen Bowers, Avery Caldwell, Landry Caldwell, Braxton Phillips, Abigail Phillips, Maggie Phillips, and Marvin Phillips, Jr.; sister, Jimmie Jo Maag; and twin brothers, Mike Maag and wife Rhonda, and Pat Maag and wife Judy.
