Allena McElyea Duncan

Allena Faith McElyea Duncan, 56, of Breckenridge, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Her memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at the Elliott St. Church of Christ with Don Nelson officiating. The family will welcome friends for a visitation from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories on Friday, February 12, 2021.

Allena was born on January 27, 1965, in Breckenridge, Texas, to Travis and Wanda McElyea. She was a contented, happy baby. Her nickname was “Sister.” Her little brother, John T., changed it to “Blit” and the nickname stuck! Most of her acquaintances knew her as Blit.

She married Mike Duncan and together they had four children. Blit was known for her gullibility which her sons gleefully took advantage of! She loved laughing and was a joy to be around. She was also known as “Neena” to her grandchildren whom she doted on.

Blit loved her church and her family. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She had a magnetic personality.

She is survived by her sons, Heath and wife Miranda, Dakotah and wife Beatrice of Breckenridge, and Jake and wife Megan of Decatur; daughter, Hannah Ortiz and husband David of Walsenburg, Colorado; mother, Wanda McElyea of Breckenridge; sister, Celena Presley of Breckenridge; brother, John T. McElyea and wife Amy of Amarillo; granddaughters, Caiden Gonzales and Addison Duncan, both of Breckenridge; and grandsons, Dominic Duncan and Tripp Duncan, both of Breckenridge, and Austin Travis Ortiz of Colorado. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her father, Travis McElyea, along with grandparents, Roy and Cecil Loggains, and Allen and Ethalena McElyea.
