Jose Monroy
Jose Monroy, age 66, of Breckenridge, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 7, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Russell Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 6, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel.
Jose Vasquez Monroy was born February 5, 1954, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to parents, Andres Monroy and Augustina Vasquez. He moved to Breckenridge from Mexico in 1975, where he met and married Maria Ramirez in 1979. Jose worked at several places before his retirement, including EBAA Iron, The Cliffs and multiple mobile home factories. Even when he was not at work, he was working all of the time. He was often found cleaning the pool or working with the horses and dogs. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and spoiling his precious granddaughter, Audree.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Amy Monroy; one granddaughter, Audree Monroy; two sisters and four brothers.
Jose is survived by his wife, Maria Monroy of Breckenridge; two sons, Luis Ramirez and wife Laura, Andy Monroy, all of Breckenridge; grandchildren, Alexis, Luis, Anthony and Mateo Ramirez; great-grandchildren, Penelope, Connor and Keelan Ramirez, Creek Russell and one more on the way; brothers, Andres, Isaias and Raul Monroy; and numerous nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law.
