Elma Nunley, 86, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. The family will welcome friends for a visitation in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2020. After the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Gunsight Cemetery with Michael Roach officiating.

Dr. Elma Jeanenne Peacock Nunley was born October 3, 1934, in Wayland, Texas. At the time of her death she lived in Odessa, Texas. She was a twin, born just a few minutes after her sister.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard Braxton Peacock and Gwendolene Clarice Broyles Peacock.

She is survived by her five children, son Dave Nunley Jr. and his wife Rene’ of Alaska, and four daughters Jeanenne Sandel, Christina Coffee and her husband Robert, Denise Stewart, and Jill Thomas and her husband Paul, all in Texas; as well as 15 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger sister, Gwenell Jones, and her twin sister, Thelma Box, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Elma had a Doctorate in Education and she was a Licensed Professional Counselor. She authored two books and co-authored more. She was fortunate enough to travel all over the world, including Alaska, Australia, and all over Europe.

Elma raised strong children who also raised strong children. She loved life, music, reading, and she was a part of changing many lives through her work.

Mamma we love you so much and thank you for being our mom. We will cherish our memories and miss you forever and ever. Until we meet again.
