Bruce Barter, age 70, of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Jimmy Dukes officiating. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Tuesday, January 12, at Morehart Mortuary.

Bruce Michael Barter was born December 29, 1950, at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, to John Wallace Barter and Julia Marie Hanson Barter. He graduated Arapahoe High School in Littleton, Colorado. In the 1970s, Bruce moved to Texas for work in the oil field. He worked Basic Energy at and was known by his coworkers as “Einstein.” He married Marla Blackerby in Breckenridge at Jeanette St. Church of Christ on February 29, 2004. Bruce loved working with his hands and could fix anything. He enjoyed reading and will be remembered as a loving husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Barter.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Marla Barter of Breckenridge; his four children, Michael Livaudais of Denver, Colorado, Kim Hill and husband Matt of Oklahoma, Jessica White of Breckenridge, and Sherrie Maldonado and husband Victor of Travis Air Force Base in California; one brother, John Barter of Farmington, Missouri; two sisters, Barbara Johnson of Denver, Colorado, Suzanne Barter of San Antonio; nine grandchildren, Hazel, Jack, Amber, Aubrey, Skylar, Chance, Karter, Mia and Ariana; and niece and nephew, Erin and Travis of Colorado.

Memorials may be made to Solaris Hospice and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at morehartmortuary.net.
