Ernesto “Ernie” Calsoncin, age 78, of Breckenridge, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Dias officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Rosary will be recited from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 28, at Morehart Mortuary.

Ernesto “Ernie” D. Calsoncin was born April 24, 1942, in Melvin, Texas, to his parents, Dionisio Calsoncin and Eloisa Diaz. On February 2, 1960, Ernie married Rosalita Diaz in Brownfield, Texas. In 1974, he started his own business, the infamous Ernie’s Spanish Kitchen in Breckenridge. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and sports of any kind, like bowling and golf. Ernie was active in the community, sponsoring several events, including the annual Ernie’s Invitational golf tournament. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. While at family gatherings, Ernie was often found taking pictures.

Ernesto was preceded in death by his parents, Dionisio and Eloisa Calsoncin; his grandparents; one aunt and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalita Calsoncin of Breckenridge; five children, Rudy Calsoncin and wife Gloria, Elda Calsoncin, Dennis Calsoncin and wife Cindy, Ronnie Calsoncin and wife Christy, and Elsa Calsoncin; seven sisters; one brother; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
