Area residents can pick up supper and help Breckenridge fifth graders fund their upcoming Science Camp trip at Saturday’s pork chop dinner fundraiser.

KLXK-93.5 FM Radio will host the drive-through event on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. or until they run out of pork chops, said Charlie Parker, morning show host and sports director at the station.

The meal will include “thick-cut grilled pork chop with baked beans, potato salad and a dessert” for an $8 donation to South Elementary’s Fifth Grade Science Camp trip. All of the money raised will be donated to the fifth graders, Parker said.

All of the food and supplies for the fundraiser were donated by Breckenridge and Eastland individuals and businesses, including United Supermarkets and Walmart. There will be at least three grills set up, with Rob Durham, Robert Burchett and Terry Slavens cooking the pork chops on-site.

Parker said the drive-through will probably be set up so that cars will come down Baylor Street and turn into the radio station parking lot.

COVID-19 safety measures will be in place.
