Annual Mingle and Jingle shopping event kicks off holiday season in Breckenridge

The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce kicked off the holiday season with its annual Mingle and Jingle shopping event on Friday, Nov. 20. Although there were some changes this year, due to COVID-19 concerns, shoppers were in a festive mood as they strolled through downtown.

The community Christmas tree was officially lit on Friday night, but the usual ceremony and concert were canceled this year to discourage a large crowd from gathering.

In addition to local shops staying open late for the event, several businesses had sidewalk sales, and several crafters and artisans set up tables to display their wares. The Woman’s Forum hosted an open-air market in the vacant lot directly across from the courthouse and offered hot chocolate, cookies, music and some fundraising items. Each year, Mingle and Jingle and the tree lighting kick off the holiday season. Some of the upcoming activities include:

  • Small-business Saturday on Nov. 28
  • The Chamber of Commerce’s Banquet-in-a-Box on Dec. 4. (Deadline to buy tickets is Wednesday, Nov. 25.)
  • Christmas Parade on Dec. 12. (Deadline to enter a float is Dec. 4.)
