This week is Homecoming Week at Breckenridge High School, and several events are planned for the community, beginning with this evening’s Homecoming Parade through downtown Breckenridge.

The parade organizers have added two blocks to the traditional parade route to allow parade watchers to practice social distancing and help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 14, on Live Oak Street and will wrap up at Court Street.

A special section at the parking garage on the corner of Rose Avenue and Walker Street will serve as a reserved section for those who are immuno-compromised. Anyone attending the parade who might fall into that category is encouraged to watch from there.

Everyone attending the parade is encouraged to wear a mask or other face covering to help protect themselves and others from COVID-19.

According to information posted on the BISD website, the parade will be live-streamed tonight with access on the Breckenridge High School Facebook page.

On Friday, Oct. 16, the pep rally will take place at Buckaroo Stadium at 11:20 a.m. with both the high school and junior high in attendance. Students will be socially distanced. Community members are welcome to attend but must sit on the visitor side and socially distance from non-family members.

If the pep rally is moved indoors for any reason, only the high school will participate due to limited capacity.

The Friday pep rally also will be live-streamed.

The Homecoming Court will be presented before the game, beginning at 6:45 p.m. at Buckaroo Stadium. The game against the Early Longhorns is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets will be required to enter the stadium. Tickets to the game will cost $5 each, plus processing fee, and may be ordered online at the following link: Buckaroos vs. Longhorns Tickets
