Johnnie Bernard Batek, 78, of Breckenridge passed away in an accident on July 8, 2020. The funeral service and interment will be a private affair for family only on July 16, 2020, under the direction of Melton Kitchens Funeral Home.

Johnnie Bernard Batek was born August 20, 1941, to Theodore and Frances Batek in Corpus Christi, where he lived until he graduated high school. After graduating, he served in the Air Force during Vietnam. After returning home from the war, he relocated to Enid, Oklahoma. It was there that he began working as a diesel mechanic for Koch Oil Company. While working for Koch Oil, he was asked to transfer to Breckenridge. He agreed and retired after 24 years in the little community that he grew to love. After his retirement, he did mechanic work for a local company called Jim’s Truck Service. He worked there for another 16 years, until he retired for the last time. Johnnie was a man that believed in keeping his word and doing an honest day’s work to make his family a living.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Frances Batek; wife, Betty Batek; brother, Ted Batek; and great-grandson, Trevor Batek.

Johnnie is survived by daughter, Lori Raymond and husband Michael of Breckenridge; son, Todd Batek and wife Marla of Blanchard, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Shaylie Tudor and husband Brandon of Oklahoma City, Nathan Batek and wife Amanda of Oklahoma City, Gage, Garrett and Grace Raymond of Breckenridge and Skylar Ortega of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Easton Tudor of Oklahoma City, Emma and Elliott Batek of Oklahoma City, and Sklar Ortega of Oklahoma City; brother, Jeff Batek of Robstown; and twin sister, Mary Ann Hull and husband Carl of Cuero.

Memorials can be made in Johnnie’s name to the local Meals on Wheels program and may be left at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home office. Condolences may be made at meltonkitchens.com.
