On Wednesday, July 1, Simmonds was honored for his service on the Stephens Memorial Hospital District Board of Directors from 2015 to 2020. He resigned from the board in February.

On Thursday, July 2, SMH presented Dr. Prater with a plaque in recognition of his 30 years of service to the community.

Dr. Prater, a graduate of the University of Texas Medical branch in Galveston, started his practice in Breckenridge on July 2, 1990. In his 30 years of practice, Dr. Prater has done it all, Chris Curtis, Director of Business Development at SMH, said in a news release.

“He has delivered babies, performed surgeries, and helped improve countless patients health. There aren’t many families in our community who haven’t been touched by Dr. Prater,” Curtis said. “We as a community are very lucky that Dr. Prater chose to call Breckenridge home.”

The hospital invites anyone who would like to send Dr. Prater a card or a quick note thanking him for his service to our community to send them to 101 S. Hartford Breckenridge, TX 76424.
