One killed, one injured in head-on collision on Highway 67
Update, 2 p.m. Sunday, May 17:
According to a preliminary report from the Texas Department of Public Safety released Sunday afternoon, Mercedes Elaine Fulton, 26, of Iowa Park, died in a head-on collision Friday, May 15, on State Highway 67, about three miles north of U.S. Highway 180.
Fulton was traveling north when her car drove into the south-bound lane and into the path of an oncoming pickup driven by Jacob Herring, 37, of Breckenridge. According to the report, Herring was transported to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
The crash is still under investigation.

More than a dozen emergency vehicles from multiple agencies were on the scene of a two-vehicle accident in Stephens County this afternoon.
One person died in the head-on collision Friday afternoon, May 15, on State Highway 67, about three miles north of U.S. Highway 180.
The wreck involved a car traveling north, and a pickup traveling south. According to security video from a nearby residence, it appeared that the car veered into the path of the pickup. Upon impact, the pickup rolled over.
The driver of the car was declared deceased on the scene by Justice of the Peace Steve Spoon. The driver of the pickup was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital and was expected to be released later this evening, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper Russell Reid at the scene.
Shortly after the wreck, emergency officials closed Highway 67 temporarily. More than two hours after the wreck, traffic was still reduced to one lane, as officials continued to investigate the accident.
Responding to the scene were the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Breckenridge Police Department, Breckenridge Fire Department, Department of Public Safety, AMR ambulance service and Texas Department of Transportation.
The names of those involved in the wreck have not been released by officials at this time.
