Alice Blakeburn Pilkington, 74, of Stephens County, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020, in Graham, Texas. Her cremation will take place under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home in Breckenridge, and no services are planned, as per her request.

Alice was born on November 9, 1945, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Effie Nicholson Blakeburn and Otis E. Blakeburn. She grew up in Bellaire, Texas, near Houston, and graduated from Bellaire High School. She attended Texas Women’s University in Denton and the University of California at Irvine.

She worked in a variety of office administrative jobs throughout her life. Alice loved animals and was involved in the rescue of many of them throughout her life. She was also an avid reader and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Breckenridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronald (Buddy) Blakeburn.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Pilkington of Breckenridge; daughter, Michelle Singleton; step-children, Tony Pilkington and wife Carla of Breckenridge, Thomas W. Pilkington and wife Michelle of Houston, John Pilkington and wife Cynthia of Houston, Robert Pilkington of Texas City, and Cheryl Pilkington of Pearland; three grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren. She is also survived by her cats, Barnie and Cali.

The family suggests contributions be made in Alice’s name to the Stephens County Humane Society. Condolences may be left at meltonkitchens.com
