Sherry Nelson
Sherry Nelson, age 67 of Breckenridge, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 30, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Josh Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.
Sherry LaNeda West was born February 26, 1953, in Breckenridge, Texas, to parents George Darwin West and Teresa Oleta Kiser West. She attended schools in Breckenridge. On June 9, 1970, she married Otis Richardson. They had two children before his passing in 1992. Sherry later married Daniel “Dan” Nelson on July 7, 1995 at Calvary Baptist Church in Breckenridge, Texas. Sherry worked as a private home health caregiver. God ordained her to be the pastor’s wife at Calvary Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, and traveling and camping in national parks. She loved her family but especially loved spending time with her one and only granddaughter, Gianna.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, George and Teresa West; one brother, Jimmy West; one sister, Jannie Akers; one brother-in-law, J.W. Guy; one sister-in-law, Shirley West; and three granddaughters, Rebekah, Hannah and Christine Richardson.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Dan Nelson; four children, Josh Richardson and wife Desirée, Caleb Richardson, Christopher Nelson, and April Nelson; her step-mother, Mable Parker West; three sisters, Ann Guy, Sue Moorhead and husband Donnie, and Ednamae West; one brother, Dick West and wife Mary; one granddaughter, Gianna Richardson; and her mother-in-law, Bonnie Nelson.
