Delmelia Dunn

Delmelia Dunn, 87, of Stephenville, Texas, died March 15, 2020, in Oakwood Assisted Living and Memory Care in Stephenville. Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 19, at 1 p.m. at the Breckenridge Cemetery with Weldon Branham officiating.

Delmelia was born November 19, 1932, in Big Spring, Texas, to William Charles Dunn and Mittie Viola Owen Dunn. The family moved to Breckenridge in April 1941. Delmelia graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1951. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas, in 1964. She was a life-long member of the First Christian Church.

When Delmelia was born, her two-year-old brother Jack wanted to hold the “doll,” and from then on she was known as “Doll” to the family. She had a unique talent for anything involving crafts and cooking, and she put that to work as a county extension agent and home economics teacher until she retired. She was especially well-known for her delicious Christmas fudge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Billie Owen Dunn; and nephew Billy Owen Dunn, Jr.

Survivors include: brother Charles Jack Dunn and wife Fauneil of Weatherford, Texas; sister Treon Dunn Thompson of Breckenridge, Texas; nieces Cathy Yvonne Dunn Burr of Northlake, Texas, Laura Sharon Dunn Nelson of Stephenville, Cynthia Grace Dunn Kirk of Lubbock, Texas, and Carolyn Jane Thompson Wrinkle of Hutto, Texas; nephews Clifton Wade Dunn of Wilmer, Texas, John Bill Thompson of Hutto, Texas, and James Robert Thompson of Fort Worth; and special friend and co-worker Robert Reich.

The family wishes to thank Oakwood Assisted Living and Memory Care and Solaris Hospice for the loving care they provided our Doll.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Christian Church of Breckenridge and can be left at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be made at www.meltokitchens.com.
