Hospital officials report there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Stephens County
Stephens Memorial Hospital officials said this afternoon that there have not been any confirmed cases of COVID-19, aka coronavirus disease, in Stephens County, but the hospital has tests kits now and can test local residents as necessary.
SMH officials released the following updated information this afternoon:
We at SMH wanted to provide some updates to our community to keep everyone informed:
1. At this time, we do not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County.
2. The hospital does have the test kits and we are able to collect the sample and send it off to be tested. It takes 3-4 days to receive the test results.
3. At this time, we are only allowing 1 visitor per patient for Emergency Room Patients. We ask that any additional visitors please wait outside the facility.
4. If you are planning to come to the Emergency Room unless it is a true emergency please call ahead to speak to a nurse so that we can best be prepared to treat you. Please call 254-559-2241.
5. Our lab and radiology departments are still open. Any patients needing lab work or radiology will be screened at the front entrance.
6. Breckenridge Medical Center is open and seeing scheduled patients. If you feel you need an appointment please call 254-559-3363. If you need a prescription refilled please contact the pharmacy and ask them to send a refill request.
7. SMH Physical Therapy is operating and seeing scheduled patients. Patients are being screened as well before treatment. The Wellness portion of our facility is closed at this time. We are making every effort to keep patients and employees safe while still meeting the medical needs of our community.
