Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Melton Kitchens Funeral Home with Rex Boggs and Andy Channer officiating the service. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., also at Melton Kitchens Funeral Home.

Elaine Joyce Beaird was born in Kenific, Oklahoma, on August 21, 1940, to parents James and Vida Beaird. She grew up and graduated high school in Breckenridge. Joyce met and married Robert Charles “Bob” Lockhart; they were married 42 years until Bob passed away. They were faithful members of First Presbyterian Church in Breckenridge. Of the all the jobs she had while living in the community, the one she spoke of fondly was her office job at Villa Haven Nursing Facility. She loved her time there and the many lives that touched her during her employment. Her family was everything, especially her grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Orion. Joyce’s eyes would always light up when her grandchildren walked into the room. The family will miss her daily “good mornings” and her nightly cappuccino antics. Joyce never turned away stray animal. She always would doctor and feed any animal that crossed her path. The family knows she is in her heavenly home now with no more pain and with those loved ones that went before Joyce.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Marvel Beaird; and brother, James Beaird.

Joyce is survived by her son, Mike Lockhart and wife Lisa of Breckenridge; sisters, Wanda Abraham of Breckenridge, Stella Sanders of Breckenridge and Shelia Fournier of Breckenridge; brothers, Robert W. Beaird of Breckenridge and Zane Beaird of Abilene.

Memorials can be to the Stephens County Humane Society and be left at Melton Kitchens Funeral Home office. Condolences may be made at www.meltonkitchens.com
