Stephens Memorial Hospital will present a free opioid overdose prevention training from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church Fellowship Hall, 1509 E. Walker St.

The training will be for health professionals, family members, drug users, peers, community members, counselors, providers and responders.

Attendees will receive an update on the growing opioid overdose epidemic in Texas. They will be provided information on laws regarding Naloxone, a medication used to treat opioid overdoses, and how to administer each form of the medication. The program is designed so that by end of training, attendees will know how to recognize, respond to, and evaluate an opioid overdose.

Attendees will receive free Naloxone/Narcan and will receive information on where to access Naloxone.
