BISD to host Healthy Heart Celebration Night on Thursday
The hearts on last week’s Valentine’s cards aren’t the only ones getting attention this month. February is known as American Heart Month, and the Breckenridge Independent School District is inviting the community to its 10th annual Healthy Heart Celebration Night on Thursday.
The event will include Hoops for Heart, Jump Rope for Heart, family health information booths and a free healthy meal. Healthy Heart Celebration Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the BISD Athletic and Fine Arts Center (aka the “New Gym”).
At the event, students in grades 2 through 6 can participate in two activities to get their heart pumping: Hoops for Heart – Hoop it Up, and Jump Rope for Heart – Celebration Jump Event. Both are free to all participants.
During the event, attendees can visit each of the Family Health Information booths to find out information on nutrition, heart health, and more. Students who attend also will receive one free homework pass for attending with their family.
Concession tickets will be handed out to attendees at the door of the new. The tickets will be good for one free healthy meal on a first-come, first-served basis. There will also be a door prize given away.
Sponsors of the Healthy Heart Celebration Night include the BISD Student Healthy Advisory Committee, BISD Food Services, First National Bank, Breckenridge Interbank, BISD career classes and ABC Printing.
Donations will be accepted and all proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.
