Linda Abel to present program on dementia on Sunday

Linda and Jim Abel will be at Breckenridge’s First United Methodist Church, 419 W. Walker St., on Sunday, Sept. 29, and Linda will present a program on dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease in the Christian Life Center beginning at 12:45 p.m.
Linda Abel worked as a registered nurse in Assisted Living communities for 20 years of her career. She also served alongside her husband, Jim, who is a retired United Methodist Minister and former pastor of First United Methodist Church of Breckenridge.
Linda officially retired in 2016; however, many would say she doesn’t really understand what retirement is about. Since retirement she has served the Texas Assisted Living Association as a trainer for Assisted Living Managers all over the state of Texas.
She is president of Dementia Friendly Fort Worth, an outgrowth of a dementia education ministry of First United Methodist Church Fort Worth.
The organization provides training to people in all walks of life and to organizations of all kinds. A Dementia Friendly Chapel is held weekly, and a new opportunity for persons with dementia recently began with 5th Street Café: A Dementia Friendly Social Club.
Linda and Jim have been married for 50 years and have two grown sons, two daughters-in-law, and four granddaughters.
The event on Sunday will be open to everyone.
