Breckenridge Library awards gift cards, tablets for summer reading
The Breckenridge Library offered a reading program this summer to encourage the community’s children to read for pleasure during the summer and to retain their reading skills. Last Friday, the library presented the final awards to the participants whose names were chosen in a drawing for the top prizes.
The program included story time for children of all ages and provided reading logs to children in fourth through 12th grade. There were 17 kids who participated, and each participant who turned in a completed reading log by July 30 received a $5 gift card from either Walmart or McDonald’s.
They also were entered into drawings for either Fire HD 8 tablets or $40 Amazon gift cards. The prizes were awarded in three age groups, fourth through sixth grade; seventh through eighth grade; and ninth through 12th grade.
