Breckenridge Intermediate All-Stars fall to East Brownsville, continue tournament play today

The Breckenridge Intermediate Little League All-Stars had their first loss in what had been an undefeated season as they fell to East Brownsville 15-3 during the Texas West State Little League Tournament Friday night, July 12, in Abilene.

During the game, Breckenridge had 3 runs, 7 hits, 2 errors and 4 men left on base. The East Brownsville All Stars had 15 runs, 17 hits 0 errors and 6 men left on base.

Despite their loss, Breckenridge is still in tournament contention and will face San Antonio Northside Suburban in the second round of the losers bracket today, July 13, at 7 p.m.

Northside Suburban defeated the Midland Northern All-Stars in the first round of the losers bracket 13-10 Friday, July 12, to advance to the second round.

Tonight’s game will be broadcast on KLXK radio, FM 93.5, with Charlie Parker and Robert Burchett. Listeners can tune in on the radio or through the station’s website, klxkkrooradio.com.

The winner of tonight’s game will play East Brownsville for the Texas West State Championship on Sunday.

The winner of the Texas West State Tournament will be one of two Texas representatives at the
Southwest Regional Tournament, along with the winner of the Texas East tournament. They will play against teams such a Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Mississippi. That will determine who represents the Southwest United States in the International Tournament.
