At a special meeting on Monday night, the Breckenridge Independent School District Board of Trustees interviewed and then hired an interim superintendent to replace Tim Seymore, who is retiring at the end of August.

The first item of business at the meeting was to formally accept Seymore’s resignation. Then, the trustees went into executive session to interview Earl Jarrett. After the executive session, which took about an hour and a half, the board returned to open session and voted unanimously to hire Jarrett.

The interim superintendent will begin the new job on Sept. 2.

Jarrett retired from the Brazos ISD in Wallis a couple of years ago. His past jobs include superintendent, teacher and coach. To read more about Jarrett, click here to read the Breckenridge Texan’s previous article.

The Breckenridge ISD board also held a budget workshop during the meeting, with Seymore discussing this year’s revenue.
