Local Extension office to offer summer classes for kids

The Stephens County AgriLife Extension office will offer a variety of summer classes for local kids in grades 2 through 12 and one class that adults can attend as well.

Most of the classes are one day. They start on Tuesday, June 18, and continue through the end of the month.

Most of the classes cost $30 each. All of the classes will be held at the AgriLife Extension office, 2622 U.S. Highway 180 East (at the corner of U.S. Highway 180 and State Highway 67).

The following classes are being offered:

  • Kids in the Kitchen – Grades 2-12 – Tuesday, June 18, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – $30, lunch is included – Kids will learn skills to make an assortment of meals that can be made at home. Enrollment is limited.
  • Record Book Workshop – Grades 2-12 – Thursday, June 20, 10 a.m. to noon – $15 – Students will learn skills needed to complete a record book that will prepare them for their future in 4-H, scholarships, college applications and resumes.
  • Basket Weaving – Grades 2-12 – Tuesday, June 25, 9:30 a.m. to noon – $30 – Students will learn skills to weave their own basket, taking home their own creation. Enrollment is limited.
  • Basket Weaving – Grades 2-12 and adults – Tuesday, June 25, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. – $30 – Students will learn skills to weave their own basket, taking home their own creation. Enrollment is limited.
  • Mosaic Workshop – Grades 2-12 – Monday, June 24, 8 a.m. to noon, and Thursday, June 27, 10 a.m. to noon – $30 – Students will learn skills to create their own mosaic masterpieces, taking home their own creations. Enrollment is limited.
