To help make sure the children of Breckenridge continue to have at least two nutritious meals a day, even after school is out, the Breckenridge Independent School District is participating in an annual program to offer free breakfast and lunch for kids throughout June and for a few days in July and August.

The Summer Feeding Program will provide breakfast and lunch at no charge for all children ages 18 and younger at the Breckenridge High School cafeteria. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. each weekday in June, and lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The program is already in progress and will continue June 10-14, June 17-21, June 24-27, July 23-25, and August 1, 2 and 5-7. On Wednesdays in June, lunch will be served in the Breckenridge City Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first day of the new school year will be Aug. 15.

The meals are free for the kids, but parents or other adult family members may join the kids for breakfast and/or lunch at a charge; check with BISD for the cost.

The program is part of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Summer Nutrition Program and is offered statewide by local sponsors.

For more information, call your child’s school or the school district office at 254-522-9600.
