BHS Class of 2019 graduates and celebrates
Dozens of Buckaroo Green caps and clouds of confetti filled the air above the Breckenridge High School Class of 2019 on Friday night as the newly graduated students celebrated their new status as alumni.
The commencement exercises for the 78 Class of 2019 members took place May 24 at the BISD Athletics and Fine Arts Center, which was packed with friends and family.
The graduates were dressed in green caps and gowns, and many of the graduates wore special collars, sashes (stoles) and/or cords signifying various honors, worn in addition to the white BHS sash. Those included:
- National Honor Society – White NHS collar
- FFA – Gold sash
- U.S. Marines – Scarlet sash
- Dual Credit – Gold cord
- SAT/ACT Endorsement – Purple cord
- Industrial Arts Endorsement – Kelly Green Cord
- Dual Language ESL Endorsement – Maroon cord
- Dual Blood Donor – Red cord
- PALS – Blue and gold cord
Valedictorian AnnaKate Rodgers gave the invocation and the valedictory address, and Salutatorian and Buckaroo Queen Alyssa Reyes gave the salutatory address.
BHS Principal William Paul announced awards and BISD Superintendent Tim Seymore made the presentation of the class. Then, Paul read each graduate’s name, and BISD School Board President Graham Reaugh presented the diplomas. The district’s administration and school board members congratulated the graduates as they returned to their seats.
After every diploma had been awarded, Kyler Knight gave the benediction and the graduates and the crowd sang the school song. As the graduates tossed their caps into the air, several students sent plumes of confetti flying overhead to the cheers of their classmates.
