Lawson Wayne Jacobs, age 82, passed from this life, surrounded by family, April 18, 2019, in Florida.

Wayne was born May 29, 1936, in Plainview, Texas. Growing up, he lived in both Breckenridge and Lubbock. After graduation from Lubbock High School, Wayne enlisted in the military. He first served in the Marines, and then changed to the Navy, where he went to Naval photography school in Pensacola Florida. He was always very proud of his military service. Wayne settled in Lubbock, Texas, after the Navy, and worked for many years as a photographer for Harold Photo. He also enjoyed a 23-year career as a fireman for the Lubbock Fire Department.

Wayne was a great lover of the outdoors; he spent a great deal of his leisure time hunting, fishing, and taking beautiful pictures. He also loved sports, and was a big fan of Jazz, bluegrass, and gospel music. He had the most captivating smile and a wonderful sense of humor. His laughter was soul lifting, it will be truly missed by anyone who knew him. Wayne was an active and giving member of the community and his church.

Wayne is preceded in death by his brother, Claude Marion Jacobs; his father Clarence Franklin Jacobs; and his mother Modell Inez Jacobs.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Helen Kathryn Jacobs; and children, Daniel Wayne Jacobs, and Kathryn Jane Adelblue and their spouses. He also leaves behind his sister, Martha Jane Ledbetter, and his grandchildren, Sloan Danielle Hill, Eryn Elizabeth Hanon, Madison Ellise Hanon, and Delaney Kathryn Hanon, and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

Memorial services for Wayne will be at 2 .m. Saturday, May 18, at the Elliott Street Church of Christ Burial to follow in Moran Cemetery. Arrangements have been under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home in Breckenridge.
