On Tuesday evening, April 2, the teachers and staff members of Breckenridge’s East Elementary put in a couple of extra hours of work. But, instead of teaching, they were taking orders and delivering food at the local McDonald’s restaurant.

From 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, when the East staff was on duty, profits from the restaurant were earmarked for the PTO. The fundraiser, generated $1,500 based on sales, and then David and Carol Whealy, the owners of the local McDonald’s, personally donated an additional $500 to make it an even $2,000 for the East PTO.

“As always, the Whealy’s are very generous of their time and contributions to our community and the kiddos in it,” said Kim Fuller with the PTO. “And without the support of businesses like McDonald’s and the Whealys, Breckenridge Elementary ONE PTO could not provide the field trips and enrichment opportunities to our elementary schools that we do.”
