Chamber hosts events for Breckenridge businesses

The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce held two recent events for the benefit of local businesses.

This morning, Tuesday, April 2, the Chamber and Texas State Technical College hosted the second Coffee and Connections networking event of 2019. Representatives from local and area businesses and organizations attending the event enjoyed coffee and doughnuts and the chance to visit with each other. Each attendee was invited to share news and information about their business or organization, and Carrie Holson, Chamber Executive Director, spoke to the group about upcoming events, as well as about the benefits of local networking. Also, Debbie Karl, Executive Director of the TSTC-Breckenridge campus, talked about some of the new things the college has to offer.

On March 21, the Chamber hosted the first Lunch and Learn event of the year with Jamie Blankenship, a career specialist with Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas. She gave a presentation on the various services Workforce Solution offers area businesses, including job postings, employee recruiting/screening, financial support for on-the-job training and more. Additionally, Workforce Solutions offers services for job seekers, including assistance with interviewing and resume skills, job listings, scholarships for training, and other assistance. Also attending the event was Janie Havel, community relations representative with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s office. Havel represents the north and northeast Texas regions, focusing on economic development and tourism for the area. Her office is in Arlington.
