Boil Water Notice issued for north Breckenridge area

Boil Water Notice issued for north Breckenridge area
March 29
09:37 2019

The City of Breckenridge’s Public Works Director has declared a Boil Water Notice effective Friday, March 29, for the following area:

  • North Breckenridge Avenue between Lindsey and Fourth Street, and
  • the 100 and 200 blocks of East First and East Second streets.

According to Houston Satterwhite, public works director, the problem was caused by a break in the water line on North Breckenridge Avenue that was installed almost 100 years ago. Work to replace those lines will begin in April.

Due to conditions in the water system which have occurred, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption. To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

The Boil Water Notice will be in effect for a minimum of 48 hours. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, water system officials will notify each customer directly in the affected area.

For more information, call the City Offices at 254-559-8287 or the Water Office at 254-559-7249.
