Area Agency on Aging to host symposium on dementia in Abilene
The Area Agency on Aging of West Central Texas will host a Voices for Dementia, an educational symposium on Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Region 14 Education Service Center, located at 4300 S. Treadway in Abilene. The Area Agency on Aging covers Stephens County, as well as 18 other counties in this region.
The free event will feature four tracks to choose from, programs for: residents, family caregivers, direct care professionals and first responders. Each track will be specially designed to enhance the participants’ knowledge and will provide an opportunity for local communities to take action and support people with dementia to live dignified and feel less isolated.
The training will include a resource fair, Memories in the Making art gallery, and complimentary breakfast and lunch for pre-registered guests.
The program will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the resident, family caregiver and first responder tracks; the track for the direct care professionals will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
