The recipients of the Good Citizens Award are:

Lisa Echols with the Lee’s Legion Chapter of the DAR announced the winners before a group of parents, grandparents, principals and DAR members. The students read their essays and received certificates, DAR pins and $50 each.
According to information from the local DAR chapter, the Good Citizens Award was created in 1934 and is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The award recognizes individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. The students are selected by school counselors or administrators because they have demonstrated those qualities to an outstanding degree.
