Mary Shirley Land McDonald, age 82, peacefully and quietly left this mortal life at 5:11 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2018. The family would like to invite everyone to the funeral service at Morehart Mortuary on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 2 p.m. Her friend and pastor, Rex Boggs will be officiating. There will also be a visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Morehart Mortuary.

She was born on September 6, 1936, in Kilgore, Texas. She attended schools in Livingston and eventually made it to Breckenridge. On August 27, 1955, Shirley married Ely Weldon McDonald at Rose Avenue Baptist Church in Breckenridge. Shirley worked as a machinist for 20 years, building parts for planes in the Vietnam War. Shirley was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Bingo and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Albert Land and Oma Minor Land; her husband; one son, Ely W. McDonald, Jr.; four brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by two children, Brenda Chrisman and husband Chris, and James McDonald and wife Norma; one daughter-in-law, Karen Kelley McDonald; four grandchildren, Callan Kelley, Billie Gail Hight, Jamie Kay Speer and husband Jesse, and Jeremy Bibby and wife Tanya; seven great-grandchildren, Bronson, Hunter, Emma, Zaryn, Jared and wife Emilee, Jacob, and Benjamin; one great-great-grandson, Jax; one sister; one brother; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Villa Haven and the nurses with Solaris Hospice for their gracious and expert care of Shirley.
