The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce has canceled this year’s Christmas Parade and downtown tree-lighting event, originally scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 8, due to the bad weather and the forecasted below-zero wind chill at the start time of the parade.

According to the notice posted on the Chamber’s Facebook page, the decision was made for the safety and well-being of everyone involved. Because of other events going on around town over the upcoming weeks, the event will not be rescheduled.

“We appreciate all the work of those who wanted to take part in this year’s event,” the Chamber’s Facebook post states. “We are in the processes of contacting all parade entries to let them know about the cancellation.”
