Tuesday, April 16
Tree Pests/Diseases Program
The Stephens County AgriLife Extension Office and the Texas Forest Service will offer a free program about Tree Pests and Diseases at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the local Extension office, 2622 U.S. Highway 180 East (at the intersection of Highway 180 and State Highway 67). Texas A&M Forest Service Specialist Kimberlee Peterson will present the program.

Wednesday, April 17
Art Gallery Night at East Elementary
Breckenridge’s East Elementary School will host Art Gallery Night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17.

Saturday, April 20Casino NightThe Breckenridge Fine Arts Center will host its annual fundraising Casino Night on Saturday, April 20. Click here for more details.

Early Voting Starts
Early voting in the Breckenridge City Election will begin on Monday, April 22. Click here for more details.

Breck’s Got Talent Application Deadline
The deadline to apply for the Breck’s Got Talent competition, to take place during Frontier Days on May 4, is Monday, April 22. Click here for more details about how to apply.

Thursday, April 25
Pond and Fish Management Program
The Stephens County AgriLife Extension Office and the MT7 Ranch will host a Pond and Fish Management program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the ranch, located at 1189 Private Road 1802 in Stephens County. The key speaker will be Bob Lusk, owner and editor of Pond Boss magazine. There will also be a shock boat demonstration with Cody Butler, MT7 wildlife biologist. Will Farmer with Living Water Specialties will discuss aquatic vegetation control, and  MT7 Ranch Manager Ty Bartoskewitz will talk about the MT7’s approach to pond design with. The cost will be $20 per person and will include a fish fry lunch and 1 CEU. Reservations must be made by April 23 by calling 254-559-2313 or going online to https://stephens.agrilife.org/programs/.

Friday, April 26
Car Seat Inspection Event
The Stephens County AgriLife Extension Office will host a car seat safety event on Friday, April 26. Local parents can get their car seats inspected and receive a free car seat or booster seat, depending on need. The safety event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, in the First Methodist Church parking lot at 419 W. Walker St. Click here for more details.

Concert: Brett Taylor & Friends
Closing out the National Theatre of Breckenridge’s 2023-24 Performance Series will be Brett Taylor, along with some songwriting friends from Nashville. Taylor is a Texas native who has lived in Tennessee for the past 10 years. The show will consist of a 45-minute set of Taylor and his friends performing original music “in-the-round.” And then, after intermission, Taylor will take the stage with his full band, playing a mix of original songs and a few covers. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7 p.m.

Saturday, April 27
Spring Craft Extravaganza
The Breckenridge Craft Guild will host a craft show from 9 a.m.to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the First Methodist Church Christian Life Center, 419 W. Walker St.There will be a variety of crafts and other items for sale, as well as barbecue.

May 3-4Frontier DaysThe Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Frontier Days event on May 3-4. More details to come.

Friday, May 24Breckenridge High School GraduationThe Breckenridge Breckenridge High School Class of 2024 will have its graduation ceremony on Friday, May 24. More details to come.

May 25-26Breckenridge AirshowThe Breckenridge Airshow is returning this year and is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-26, at the Stephens County Airport. More details to come.
