Jerry Castaneda, age 53 of Breckenridge, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018, after a 5-year battle with End Stage Renal Disease. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 30, in the Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Michael Roach officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, November 29, at Morehart Mortuary.

Jerry Castaneda was born August 10, 1965, in Crowell, Texas, to parents, L.R. Castaneda and Josephine Velez. Jerry graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1984 and then went on to graduate from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, in 1989. He lived in Missouri and Wisconsin before coming back to Breckenridge, where he worked at Walmart for 15 years. On February 20, 2007, he married Becky Gonzales in Breckenridge. He collected football cards, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved Superman. Jerry had a strong faith and was a Bible believing, Jesus following Christian American. Jesus was his priority, and his favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, L.R. and Josephine Castaneda.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Castaneda of Breckenridge; five sisters, Barbara Mendez, Jovita Oxlaj, both of Breckenridge, Susan Elizondo of Cisco, Margaret Castillo of Clinton, Oklahoma, and Sylvia Villanueva of Dallas; two brothers, Ruben Castaneda of Cisco and Felix Castaneda of Breckenridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
